There is an internet discussion group started by members of the Railway & Canal Historical Society (but not a part of that organisation) at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/railwaycanal/. It is intended for anyone with an interest in transport history to pose questions, assist in research and to give details of relevant sources (including web sites). Also for details of forthcoming events, talks, trips or outings into the field. As today's events are tomorrow's history, news of current developments are equally welcome.
The East Midlands Group is one of the sponsoring societies of the East Midlands Industrial Archaeology Conference, which holds Heritage Days every six months which are open to anyone with an interest in the subject.
The next EMIAC Heritage Day (EMIAC 81) will be
on Saturday 21 May 2011 at Matlock
Bath
organised by the Peak District Historical Mines Society (PDHMS)
Members of EMIAC consituent societies will receive booking forms
through the usual channels, or can download a booking form.
